FULBRIGHT VISITING SPECIALIST: DIRECT ACCESS TO THE MUSLIM WORLD PROGRAM October 15-November 9

During the fall 2007 semester, ECU hosted Dr. Aslam Khaki. Dr. Khaki teaches Islamic Studies in Pakistan and is the author of a book entitled “Islam and Human Rights”. He had previously visited the US on a cultural exchange/inter-faith dialogue program and will be available to talk about a range of issues such as: fundamentals of Islam, violence and non-violence in religion, Jew-Christian-Muslim relationship (Islamic Perspective), concept of Jihad in Islam, experience & interfaith conflicts in Pakistan, process of Islamization in Pakistan and its effects at national & global levels. Dr. Khaki was the keynote speaker at the WAC annual meeting on October 16 in the Willis Building on the ECU campus.

FUTURE OF KOREA SERIES  June 21, 2007 CANCELLED

The Korean Economic Institute (KEI) and The World Affairs Council of Eastern North Carolina will cosponsor a series of events on June 21 in Greenville, NC. The core event will be a panel program, hosted by the World Affairs Council. Ancillary events with local universities and media may also be arranged.

The team of speakers will include one representative each from the Embassy of the Republic of Korea, and the U.S. Department of State, and Charles L. (Jack) Pritchard, President of Korea Economic Institute.
